1. summer vacation
2. guesthouse
3. exchange rate
After getting my job, I used to go abroad traveling every summer vacation before Covid-19. At that time exchange rate was not bad. Korean money was more powerful as Korean passport. I could stay at 3-4 star hotel in Japan. Over the past 7 years, thhe purchasing power of the Korean currency has dropped by 35-40%. = After getting my job, I used to travel abroad every summer vacation before COVID-19. At that time, the exchange rate wasn't bad. The Korean currency felt just as powerful as the Korean passport. I could easily stay at 3 or 4-star hotels in Japan. However, over the past seven years, the purchasing power of the Korean Won has dropped by 35% to 40%.
My Singaporean friend(gender : female) who I loved were worried about Korean currency "won". It was going down much a lot. And she gave up migrate to here. Her boyfriend said to me Korean money was so weak. So cheap. He got cosmetic surgery in Seoul. = A Singaporean friend of mine, whom I used to have feelings for, was worried about the Won because it was dropping so significantly. Ultimately, she gave up on the idea of moving here. Her boyfriend even told me that Korean money was too weak and cheap, but he did take advantage of it to get cosmetic surgery in Seoul!
Actually, Inflation is so serious. Traveling to other countries, I have to think of money. Fore example, Instead of hotel, I will choose a guesthouse. Of coures, to make a girlfriend, I chose a guesthouse XD. The result was no friend. While traveling to other countries, it is difficult to make a girlfriend. For me. = The current inflation is incredibly serious. Now, when traveling to other countries, I always have to think about money. For example, instead of a hotel, I have to choose a guesthouse. Of course, I jokingly told myself that staying in a guesthouse would make it easier to meet a girlfriend XD. But the result? I didn't make any friends at all. For me, it is just really difficult to find a girlfriend while traveling abroad.
Anyway, I have invested stocks, bonds shown American money "dollar" instead of "won". I'm worried that Korea is getting communist country. I will escape from here. = Because of this, I have started investing in U.S. dollar-denominated stocks and bonds instead of keeping my money in Won. I'm genuinely worried about the direction Korea is heading politically, and I honestly want to find a way to escape.
NOTE: It is incredibly frustrating to look back at how much easier it was to travel abroad just a few years ago. TT |
