If you had to give up one of your five senses, which one would it be and why?
All senses are valuable, but if I have to give up one, I would give up my sense of smell.
I think other senses are more valuable than smell.
Because sight, hearing and touch are essential senses for survival .
And I enjoy eating so taste is very important for me.
Because of the good smell I have eaten snacks or desserts even though I was full.
So sometimes this sense doesn’t really not help to be on a diet.
All senses contribute to how we experience the world, but if I had to give one up, I would choose to give up my sense of smell. While it adds richness to daily life, I believe the other senses—sight, hearing, touch, and taste—are more essential for survival and emotional connection.
Sight and hearing help us navigate, communicate, and stay safe. Touch grounds us in physical reality and offers comfort. Taste, for me, is deeply tied to enjoyment and memory, especially when it comes to food. In fact, my sense of smell has sometimes led me to indulge in snacks or desserts even when I wasn’t hungry—just because they smelled irresistible. So ironically, this sense can make sticking to a diet more difficult! |
