I don't think it's absolutely necessary for students to work while they are still a student.
Of course, working at a young age can be a valuable, and if the family's financial situation is difficult, it may be unavoidable. However, if my child said they wanted to work, I think I would discourage it unless they had a clear purpose and goal.

Having a lot of money that other kids don't have during one's=their student years can distort their sense of financial values.
I believe that even if it's not strictly academic, students should gain various experiences to prepare for the future.
